"Seigneur, donne-nous des prêtres!" La flamme vacillante des bougies accentue le cuivre des visages aux pommettes saillantes. Tous les dimanches, à l'appel de la cloche, les villageois de Bahang Lu -altitude 2500m et pas la moindre route d'accès- se réunissent dans leur petite église plus que centenaire, mélange de style taoïste, boudhiste et chrétien. Ils invoquent Sainte Thérèse de l'Enfant Jésus, patronne des "Missions Étrangères". Chapelet en main ils prient à genoux, les femmes à gauche, les hommes à droite, comme au temps de nos grands-parents. Car ici le temps s'est arrêté. Coupés du monde depuis 50 ans aux contreforts de Tibet, dans les vallées de la Saluène (Nu Jiang) et du Haut Mékong (Lancang Jiang), 10 000 catholiques tibétains attendent le retour des missionnaires.
